SSD Displays and Elements BITMAPS

The Ship Status Display SSD, is the picture of the ship with the system icons on it. Various bitmaps and drawing program templates are available.

Shipbits is the terminology for the SSD elements drawn as a bitmap, coined by Adam Delafield, the original Full Thrust list admin who sadly died from pneumonia. Adam's original shipbits is included here, I like to think he drew those pixels and we remember him still through them.

Here we have a collection of bitmaps for both FB and FT systems. Here are the tools to help you draw and develop your own SSD's.

Note we also have the SSD font available what supports FT systems as font glyphs.

SSD Displays and Elements VECTOR

The Ship Status Display SSD, elements these are all vector which means they are much easier to use scale and print.

figma.com is a free for personal use design tool which is perfect for making SSD displays. To use them in Figma simple drag and drop the SVG file into the editor. Figma has a powerful and extensive design system built in which is beyond this site to explain but there are a not of online videos and help.

SVG is open and the best way to exchange SSD symbols, proprietary systems need licenced software to use then while SVG can be used in free products such as GIMP and Inkscape.

SSD Kits

Various kits for Star Trek and FULL THRUST. Visio templates for FB and FT if you have Visio which isn't used much these days. Ideally these would all be converted to SVG for use in any number of modern graphics packages. A job for later.

There are also some generic vector Fleet Book symbols by Hugh Fisher in SVG and Illustrator formats these are the most useful and adaptable symbol sets.

The Full Thrust Starship Registry (Wayback Machine)  has over 500 FB ships designs and here is a collection of 81 SSDs from the site archive.
